This contemporary courtyard in central Henley-on-Thames has a zone for dining with a build in timber bench and dining table and a zone for lounging. The subtle change of direction in the tiles marks out the different zones.
The raised border is planted with a mix of small shrubs, ferns, grasses and white flowering perennials. And the lounge area is edged with a striking cypresses. The courtyard is beautifully lit, creating interesting shadows of the planting and making the space functional for both day and evening.
